Community Day ~ East Fishkill 2018

A Note From Jim Reynolds East Fishkill Veterans Council

I would like to personally thank you and your organization for joining us in our first “Veterans tent ” during the East Fishkill Community Day on September 15th. We mailed letters to over 950 Veterans that live in East Fishkill and I think the turnout reflected their response. Several comments were overheard that it was nice to find all the resources located in one place. This was “our first rodeo” and we hope to improve on it next year. Maybe a little further from the band would help. Hearing loss is the most common malady of veterans and trying to communicate over the band was a challenge. Thanks and we hope to see you again next year.

Operation Santa 2017

Special thanks go out to Semper Fi member Gail Buckle who organized donation drives at the following WCSD schools – Van Wyck Jr. High,  Brinkerhoff, Kinry, Fishkill Plains, Myers Corners, Fishkill Elementary and Gayhead. For the second year, John Jay student Meaghan Ranalli organized a collection at her school and went above and beyond this year. Two unique 3’x5′ American flags made up of students’ hand prints were constructed by students at Kinry and Vassar Road Elementary schools under the direction of Donna D’Angelo during the after school program at the schools. The flags were sent to a deployed group of Air Force troops and a platoon of deployed Army troops. Once again, Dutchess County employee Gina Barry organized a collection of items for the troops and money to help defray mailing costs. Thank you Gina for another great job! Over 220 boxes were sent out to our deployed troops and more will be sent to the wounded military personnel recovering in Landstuhl, Germany military Hospital in January.
